May, 2008
Dear Brantner Families,
I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your
part in making me feel welcome as the newest member of the
Brantner “Family”. This year has been very rewarding for me.
I have gotten to know many of the students.
I have enjoyed observing your child, our students, make
choices that show that they are thoughtful, respectful,
caring, responsible, and safe. I have seen numerous students
hold a door for another person to enter, stop in line to let
me, or another person, cross. I have observed numerous
“thank you’s”, “please”, “may I’s”, picking up trash on the
floor without being asked, listening to the teacher and not
interrupting, raising their hands to be called on, and
showing enormous patience by waiting in lines quietly and
respectfully. Students have to wait in lines for the
restroom, lunch, and other school functions. And, most
importantly, I’ve observed students staying on task and
working hard to learn all the skills and concepts designed
for their grade level.
I had a student say to me, “Thank you for remembering my
name.”
I have been really pleased to get to know such well trained
and mannerly boys and girls.
Of course, that which we are measured by, those annual
Achievement Tests, determine our school’s Report Card Grade.
As I mentioned in an earlier Newsletter, the teachers
observed that the students worked very hard as they took the
tests. We will get the results in late June, and mail them
out to you in August or September. It takes a while to
process all that data.
Getting to know and work with the Staff, has also made this
a very rewarding year. The Brantner Staff is a well kept
secret. I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know and work
with an extremely dedicated and hard working Staff. I have
never known a harder working, more devoted to the students,
group of Professionals in my life. You can be assured that
your child is being given an opportunity to get the best
education possible, in a safe environment, here at Brantner.
The Office is closed during July and will reopen in August.
I hope this Summer bring you and your family good health,
and that everyone stays safe.
Please remember to have your child read 15 to 30 minutes
daily, and practice math facts and concepts every day.
Congratulations to our 5th graders and best wishes as they
move on to the Middle School.
Gratefully,
Ernie Spalding Ed. D
Principal
