Another school year has passed quickly by us. I hope this was your child’s best year ever.
One of our goals for your child is to develop a love for learning, and therefore love learning throughout life. Another way of saying this is that we want every child to develop a love for life long learning. Therefore, learning continues throughout the summer, through reading, camping, family trips, etc.
We want all our students reading constantly. We know that practice, practice, practice, is the best way to develop a skill to the fullest potential. In addition to reading, please have your child practice math facts several times each week. Students in grades 1 & 2 need to work on addition and subtraction facts. In grades 3 -5, students should be mastering multiplication and division facts. The better you child has these facts committed to memory, the better their performance on the tests throughout the grades.
If you have access to a computer, and your child will be in grades 3-5 next year, your child can work on the Web with Study Island. Your child has been given a Username and a Password for this program. It’s a great program for preparing all students for the Ohio Achievement Tests in every subject.
Finally, I want to let you know that I have thoroughly enjoyed being Principal at Brantner for these last 2 years. I had planned to continue as Principal for several more years. West Clermont had to cut $1.8 million dollars from the budget for next year. Among the cuts were 5 administrative positions. Even though the Substitute Levy passed, the District continues to have to balance the budget, with no new income. I have loved working with the Super Brantner Staff, and your wonderful children. Brantner students and parents are the best. I wish you all the best, and thank you for allowing me to be a part of your child’s life.
Sincerely,
Ernie Spalding Ed.D, Principal
